For us skiing culture begins with following the principles known in the world as the 10 FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) rules. They help prevent accidents on the slopes and create a mutually polite atmosphere at ski resorts around the world. We want Ukrainian skiers and snowboarders to take the rider's code just as seriously and protect the right to rest for everyone at the resort.
We start with ourselves and invite you to become one of the defenders of the code.
Be ready for a quick stop, change of trajectory or radius of turn. Slow down in crowded areas, in conditions of limited visibility, at the edge of a steep slope, at the bottom of the track and on the approach to the lift.
3. Choose the right path of movement
If you ride higher on the slope, choose a path that will not interfere with the movement of riders below. In the event of a collision, the responsibility lies with the skier or snowboarder who was descending behind. Maintain a safe distance to give yourself a room for performing a necessary maneuver and allow the rider in front to move freely.
4. Overtake correctly
You can overtake on the track from any side, if you keep a safe distance. When you overtake someone, from the beginning to the end of the maneuver, you are responsible for not creating problems for other riders. This rule also applies to bypassing those people who are not moving.
5. Carefully enter the slope, start movement or cross the slope
Before starting, entering the track or crossing a slope, look up and down along the track to make sure that you will not create a dangerous situation with your maneuver. Driving on steep sections requires increased attention - it is especially dangerous here.
Keep in mind that failure to follow all of these rules often leads to accidents and can be considered a violation of civil and criminal law. Yes, it is that serious.
6. If you can, stop in a safe place
Avoid stopping on bends, bends and steep sections of the slope, if there is no urgent need. If you fall, leave the dangerous area as soon as possible. Standing or sitting in narrow places of the slope is also not recommended.Where to stop? It is best to stand on the edge of the track facing it, especially on narrow tracks. On very wide tracks, you can stop in the middle of the slope, but this way you increase the risk of a dangerous situation. If you stop with a group, stand as close as possible to each other, do not spread on the slope.
7. Move along the slope safely
You can go up or down on foot only by the edge of the track. Walking through the center of the slope damages its surface and can create a dangerous situation: both for you and for other riders. And you remember - we take care of our own ones.If there is fog around, it is not worth moving up the slope on foot at all.
8. Pay attention to markings and signs
On the slopes, you must follow all the rules and instructions on the way: signs, markings, information boards, posters, arrows, flags and fencing of dangerous areas — all this is for your safety. It is strictly forbidden to stay on the tracks and slopes closed by fences, avalanche danger signs and warning signs.
9. Help another rider
This is your responsibility in case of an accident. You cannot drive past a person lying motionless on a slope. In this or any similar situation, you must help: call rescuers and mark the scene with skis or a snowboard, thus warn other riders.
10. Always have your ID with you and show it on the first demand
Remember: each skier and snowboarder who witnessed or participated in an accident must provide personal information, including his or her full name and telephone number. Why is this important? Accidents on the slopes can be considered insurance and sometimes subject to civil or criminal liability. So your testimony or photos will help the police and rescue services to make as detailed a report as possible about the incident.
